Title: Director of Christian Education and Youth Ministries
Position Overview:
The Director will be a mature, proven minister, with demonstrated capability in Christian Education and Youth Ministries. The Director will be fully trained with a Masters of Divinity degree from a fully accredited seminary or divinity school, and will be ordained by and in good standing with a recognized Christian denomination.
In order to function in an interdenominational setting, the Director will be able to perform the duties of the position in a variety of settings, including those that are not a part of his or her own tradition. Respecting that our membership comes from the whole spectrum of theological traditions within orthodox Christianity, and that individual members have not renounced their identification with their own backgrounds, the Director will be able to affirm: 1) the whole gospel as contained in the Old and New Testaments; 2) the Bible as the only rule of faith and practice; and 3) the core beliefs of the faith as expressed in Scripture and the Apostles' and Nicene Creeds. At the same time, the Director will respect historically derived expressions of faith that may be different from his or her own. The Director, like all the staff of The Village Chapel, will be dedicated to the accomplishment of the published Mission of The Village Chapel, which is:
"As an interdenominational Christian community, we actively seek to worship God; to teach and encourage the Christian faith; to support the spiritual need of our congregation; and to reach out to others with the Gospel of Jesus Christ."
Desired Qualifications:
1. Ordination by a major Christian denomination
2. Masters of Divinity degree from a fully accredited seminary or theological school
3. Minimum 10 years in full-time professional Christian ministry
4. Demonstrated ability to administer a robust Christian Education Program
5. Demonstrated ability to lead a robust Youth Ministry
6. Demonstrated ability to enlist, train, equip and supervise volunteers
7 Demonstrated ability to work effectively on a multiple-member staff under supervision
8. Demonstrated ability to function effectively in an inter-denominational environment
10. Demonstrated ability to perform effectively general pastoral tasks
(Bible teaching, counseling, visitation, funerals, weddings, baptisms, etc.)
11. Good health
12. Strong marriage, stable family
13. Commitment to biblically grounded, theological orthodoxy
