Mission Leader - Dominican Republic Orphanage Outreach Glendale, AZ Category: Missions Posted on: April 05, 2010
Job Description:
Orphanage Outreach hosts 2000 short term American and Canadian volunteers each year in the Dominican Republic. Volunteers join us each week of the year - high school teams, college teams, church teams, families, interns, individuals. Volunteers conduct vacation bible school, teach English and literacy in schools, conduct medical and dental clinics, get involved in agriculture projects, and more. Both Christian teams and secular volunteers are involved.
Orphanage Outreach is looking for a Team Leader to lead the teams. Job can be compared to a missions leader or camp director. The Team Leader's responsibilities are the safety and health of the volunteers, the overall experience the volunteers have, and team logistics. The job will challenge whatever leadership and management skills you have. You will be working with other Orphanage Outreach leaders.
This is a great opportunity to share Christ's love with the Dominican people, Christian volunteers, and unchurched volunteers. It can be an unbelievably fulfilling position.
Requirements include extensive work experience, strong leadership experience, strong communication skills, high energy, Spanish fluency, and the ability to drive a stick shift. Really. Job term expectation - 5 years plus.
Position includes room and board, excellent insurance, a monthly stipend of $1000, and a one month duration trip home each year.
Applicants with children are strongly discouraged from applying due to the extreme workload, extreme flexibility required, limited living space, and limited school opportunities.
